ABOUT THE PROJECT
As part of an initiative by Essilor Vision Foundation (EVF) and non-profit organisation, Optometry Giving Sight in Singapore, around 600 foreign domestic helpers received free eye checks and sunglasses in October 2016.

The event at the United World College of South East Asia campus in Dover Road was organised, with the help from volunteers at Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Health Sciences, together with non-governmental organisation Aidha.
Of the 595 who were screened, most of whom were from Indonesia and the Philippines and 30% were found to have uncorrected poor vision. Mr Jayanth Bhuvaraghan, Chief Mission Officer for Essilor International, shared that the initiative aimed to provide better vision to underserved communities here, as shared by The Straits Times: http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/free-eye-checkups-for-domestic-workers
